Sep 16, 2014 (newstodate): Air Greenland is taking further measure to adjust to the country's deteriorating economy and new transport policies.
The carrier has recently announced the lay-off of many jobs at heliports in southern Greenland where the government is to change the transport infrastructure from flight services to a mix of sea and air transportation, and plans are to look over the future rotary-wing fleet.
In addition, the carrier is also in the process of selling off four company-owned Dash-7 aircraft to focus instead on the Dash-8 Q200, of which five aircraft are now in the fleet.
The Q200 aircraft has proved to be an efficient aircraft type in the country's demanding environment, and a unified fleet will bring significant cost benefits.
At the same time, Air Greenland is in the process of adjusting its existing over-all strategy in light of the changed outlook after the expected rush in oil and mineral explorations has receded
